Deeply Detailed - The Fantasy Art of Myke Amend

Hi Everyone!

As you know, my website presently showcases the fantasy art of computer games, so there's a lot of art out there that doesn't fit there at the moment. I can, however, introduce it to you on this blog.

Today, I'd like to introduce the art of Myke Amend. In addition to the samples below, drawn from the various media used by the artist, I highly recommend a closer look at his recent Behold the Machine, done for Vernian Process. Here's a teaser excerpt: "The details are tiny, with a lot of single-hair brush work done. There are polar bears the size of dimes, swirls and twirls the size of pin-heads..."
Even on the small 1000x500 image, you can make out suggestive shapes that encourage you to explore more. Check out his blog post for links to closeups of various sections of the original painting, a 48" x 24" acrylic on birch panel.
